Major Of George Resigns

The Major of George Mayor Mercia Draghoender resigned on Thursday 19 Aug and the Speaker Basil Petrus.

Then Basil Petrus was uniformly selected by the DA as the new major of George.

George Lodge International in action

On Saturday 20 February 2010 two of George Lodge International staff members took on the challenge to push a wheelchair with a disabled person in for 10 km in George.

Entries came from all over not just from South Africa from countries like Canada, France and the United Kingdom.


Celebrities like Paul Rothmann and Dieter Voigt from Pasella, Melanie Du Bois from 7 De Laan(felicity) and a finalise in Mr South Africa 2010 Jeff Tsoutsos was among the people that pushes a wheelchair for 10 km.

It was a day full of fun for people with disabilities

Fires in Southern Cape

Firefighters are stilling trying to bringing fires under control in the Garden Route despite extra firefigthers (179) of Kwazulu Natal and Free State.

Fire at Haarlem near Uniondale is burning into the Titsikamma Mountains but at this stage the concern is that the fire will reach Keurbooms overnight.

The fire near Plettenberg Bay was bought under control.

Helicopters of SANDF (Oryx helicopter) and a helicopters of Work For Water are busy fighting the fire in the Southern Cape
